Fiberglass Rods are made from high quality fiberglass roving and resin through pultrusion process. Composite matrices determine characteristics of fiberglass rods.

Fiberglass Rod can meet customer's requirements on mechanical strength, electrical insulation, anti-corrosion, etc. by using different combination of resin, fibers and others.

Where to use Fiberglass Rod (FRP Rod)

CYS supplies various selections of solid fiberglass rods to meet different applications in industry and civil.

1.    Strengthening core. Fiberglass Rod is a kind of lightweight, high strength, and robust material. Solid fiberglass rods are usually used as strengthening core, especially when conductivity is an issue.

2.    Electrical insulation: Fiberglass Rod is great material to use for antennas, because fiberglass rod is not electrically conductive.

3.    Framework: Fiberglass rods can be used as flexible framing of several structures in sports and leisure entrainment, such as tent, greenhouse, plane models, kite, etc.

Briefly, solid fiberglass rods are inexpensive, strong, flexible and extremely durable.

Through optimizing resin system and glass content, properties of fiberglass rods may be enhanced to meet a wide range of application requirements.

How is fiberglass rod made?

Pultrusion is a process in which dry, continuous fibers are pulled through a bath of resin and then through a die. It serves two purposes: it forces wet fibers bundle to conform to the shape you want to create and, since the die is heated, it will cure the resin to set the fiber bundle into its final shape. After composite (FRP profile) coming out from the die, it allows post-cure during Pulling system and then cut into stock lengths.


The process of Pultrusion has established its position as the most cost effective manufacturing process within the composites fabrication industry. The resulting product is consistent in performance, appearance and dimension.


Why chose fiberglass rods?

1.    Light weight

The density of FRP rod is about 1.6~2.1g/cm3, which is much lower than steel and aluminum.

2.    High Mechanical Strength

FRP rod has high tensile strength and flexural strength. And its strength to weight ratio is high. It provides many structural characteristics of metal or wood, but weighs less.

3.    UV &Corrosion Resistant

Special resin helps resisting harmful UV rays to prevent damage to other products.

FRP rods are good in Chemical stability. It will not corrode in water or a broad concentration of corrosive elements.

4.    Outstanding Electrical Insulation property at Medium-Low Voltage

FRP rods feature good dielectric property, flame resistance, arc resistance and high temperature resistance. Because of this, they are used as components in precise electronic devices, and rugged parts in transformers and switchgear.

5.    Low Heat Conductivity, Flame Retardant

Fiberglass composites has low coefficient of thermal conductivity. It offers understanding flame resistance. When it exposed to fire, FRP Rod / fiberglass composite materials generate little smoke and smoke toxicity.

6.    Heat resistance

Fiberglass reinforced engineering plastics offer property retention and dimensional stability at elevated temperature. Material grade of FRP rods is available to meet or exceed RTI ratings of 120 to 210 electrical and 130 to 210 mechanical.

7.    Abrasion and Impact Resistance

FRP rods (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics Composites) withstand mechanical abrasion and impact better than most conventional materials, such as hardwood and plastic panels.

8.    Good Machinability and Designability

Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics Composites (such as rods, sticks, rebars, tubes and profiles) can be cut, punched, drilled, milled, sawed, sanded, sheared, routed and installed easily.

9.    Long service life

Fiberglass rods will last for 25 years or longer, being rugged, flexible and corrosion/rot proof.
